If you work at a PC in the same room as your AirGradient monitor, you already know the problem: the device's own display is small and easy to ignore, its LED indicator only tells you "good," "okay," or "bad" without the actual numbers, and its web UI isn't exactly pleasant to keep open in a tab all day. Air Monitor solves this by putting a real dashboard, and real notifications, right on your GNOME desktop. The Main tab shows, at a glance: - Air Quality Index (AQI), color-coded for quick reading - Temperature and humidity - CO2, TVOC, and NOx - Particulate matter: PM0.3 count, PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10 - Trend arrows comparing each reading to the previous one - A chart of recorded PM2.5, so a spike from cooking or outdoor smoke is obvious rather than invisible in a single number - The timestamp of the last successful update The History tab charts every one of those readings over time, with a low, average and high summary for each. Recorded measurements are kept between sessions, so the charts are not empty when you reopen the app. Appearance is yours to pick: follow the desktop's light or dark preference, or choose from 54 named themes including Catppuccin, Nord, Dracula, Gruvbox, Solarized, Tokyo Night and Everforest. Air-quality colors stay consistent in every theme, because red should always mean bad air. Air Monitor watches incoming readings and raises desktop notifications when CO2, AQI, PM2.5, TVOC, NOx, or humidity drift outside healthy ranges, or when the device goes offline. It lives quietly in the tray, polling in the background so you can reopen the dashboard, or quit outright, without losing your place. Air Monitor is built by and for the Linux and open source community. There are no plans for a macOS or Windows build.
