About

GtkHx is a client for the Hotline protocol, the late-1990s chat-and-file-sharing system that predated modern messaging apps. It connects to Hotline 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, and 1.9 servers, including the post-original mhxd fork that's still active today. Features: - Public chat with formatted text and color-coded users - Private messages and private chat rooms - News (1.0 flat-file and 1.5+ threaded categories) - File browser, downloads, uploads, and previews - Tracker browsing for finding active servers - Bookmark manager for quick reconnects - HOPE secure-login with Blowfish or ChaCha20-Poly1305 link encryption GtkHx was originally written in 2000 against GTK+ 1.2 and has been ported forward to GTK 4 with libadwaita styling. Wire compatibility with original Hotline servers is preserved.
