About
OmaScribe is a word processor for Linux that writes like a document editor and reads like a writing tool: rich text with styles, tables, images and charts, a vault of templates, and an AI review that works on the text you have selected rather than on the whole document. What it does: - Rich text editing with styles, tables, charts, images and print layout - DOCX, PDF, Markdown, plain text and HTML import and export - AI review and inline suggestions through any OpenAI-compatible endpoint the user configures - A vault of templates and reusable documents, plus a research panel - Document statistics, a code analyser and a ghostwriter mode - Google Fonts browser with download into the document - Swedish and English interface - Dictation, when the optional faster-whisper dependency is available The AI features only ever talk to the endpoint you configure yourself — there is no built-in service, no account, and no telemetry. Local models work too: point it at a llama.cpp, vLLM or Ollama-compatible URL on your own machine.
