About

Semitone is a fast, lightweight GTK4/libadwaita music player written in Vala, focused on large local music collections. It is a fork of Gapless (formerly G4Music by neithern), extended with synced lyrics, a graphic equalizer, and many usability improvements. Features - Gapless playback of most music file types via GStreamer (MP3, FLAC, OGG, Opus, M4A, WAV, …), plus Samba and other remote protocols via GIO. - Fast loading and parsing of thousands of music files in seconds, with tag cache, low memory usage, and monitoring of local changes. - Group and sort by album/artist/title, shuffle and repeat modes, full-text search, editable persistent queue with drag-to-reorder. - Synced lyrics from 13 providers with word-by-word highlighting, click-to-seek, auto-scroll, and multi-voice (LRC+ v3) support. - 6-band graphic equalizer, ReplayGain volume normalization (track/album), configurable GStreamer audio sink. - Fluent adaptive interface for desktop, tablet, and mobile; blurred cover-art background; follows system light/dark mode. - Playlists: create, edit, and manage, with M3U import/export and drag-and-drop between apps. - Audio peak visualizer, sleep timer, MPRIS media controls, Discord Rich Presence.
